The name "Reus" distinguishes the family who once owned this handsome house. Senor Reus made his fortune in the early nineteenth century by exporting citrus fruits from Mallorca to France. He introduced Parisian touches to the interior of the house, adding extra elegance to the otherwise traditional, Mallorquin architecture and furnishings. It is this, unique character which the current British owners, Sue and Nick Guthrie, seek to preserve.
Each room has been tastefully restored and designed to offer comfort and style. Enjoy our famous breakfasts, sufficient to keep even the most robust walkers sustained for the day. Taste the local Mallorquin wines while sitting on our candlelit terrace and watching the sunset over the Tramuntana.. Enjoy dinner made with fresh, local produce. In winter, relax at night in our elegant "sala", equipped with an abundant library and an open fire. At Ca'n Reus, we pride ourselves in creating an atmosphere and offering a service which will make your stay in Mallorca a memorable one. We look forward to welcoming you at Ca'n Reus.

15 min.
The beach at Puerto Soller is only 15 minutes' drive from Fornalutx. A wide, sandy beach and safe water (lifeguards on duty) provide an ideal family swimming venue. Pedaloes are also for hire. For those who like to be away from the crowd and more adventurous, head for the rugged coastline of Calle Tuent (a 45 minute drive) to pitch camp on the rocks and dive into the water from there. Or, hire a boat from Puerto Soller, drop the anchor and choose your own swimming spot. There is also an excellent outdoor public swimming pool in Soller (10 minutes).

Stroll along the front at Puerto Soller and admire the yachts moored there from all over the world and you will appreciate the international fame of the port's natural harbour. Sailing boats and windsurfing equipment can be hired from the Centro Nautico Port de Soller and speed boats can be hired for the half day or a full day to explore the coastline up to Formentor in the north or down to Deia. Ferry boats leave the port twice daily for Formentor, Sa Calobra and Deia.

Walking distance
From the hotel itself, there are circular walks ranging from 45 minutes to six hours in length. The shorter walks take you around the village, along the river or on the foothills of the mountains which faces the hotel. The more intrepid can explore the Sierra de Tramuntana range, circle the blue waters of Lake Cuber and reach the summits of Sa Rateta (3556 ft.) and L'Ofre (3580 ft.). We provide walking books and maps and a drop off and pick up service.

Walking distance
Ca'n Reus is situated 200 meters above the Port of Soller amongst the great peaks of the Sierra de Tramuntana. There are many well sign-posted mountain pathways in the area that offer the knobbly-wheeled explorer a challenging and varied range of riding surfaces. Fast bridleways swoop past mountain lakes. Complex, rocky single-track twists steeply down through narrow valleys. At a lower level, long stretches of occasionally cobbled path wind through the many citrus groves and on into villages. Climb high in the morning, lunch on one of the many summits and descend in the heat of the afternoon sun.

Ca'n Reus can be found in the prettiest village on the island, Fornalutx, surrounded by lemon and orange trees and olive groves. This rural hotel offers spectacular views over the Tramutana mountain range, comfort and warm hospitality. It is an ideal venue for walkers, for those who want to explore the island and for those who simply want to relax by the pool in the hotel garden.

Constructed in 1913, the tramway from the town of Soller to the Port is one of the most charming (and cheapest!) tourist attractions in the area. For only one euro, you can board one of the little wooden carriages at the stop just outside the train station in Soller for the 20 minute ride. The tram rattles and hoots its way through orange and lemon groves and then turns right along the shore of Puerto Soller for great views of the sandy beach and attractive harbour with its collection of ferries, yachts and fishing boats. Stop here for a swim and lunch at one of the fish restaurants before taking the tram back. It goes every hour in winter; every half hour in summer.

The reservoir at Cuber (20 minutes drive) is one of the best birdwatching spots on the island. Park the car by the dam, take out your binoculars and and you won't have to wait long to see Ospreys fishing in the reservoir. Look out for Spectacled Warblers, Tawny Pipits and Short-toed Larks. Rock thrushes breed in the small quarry beyond the dam where you might also see Eleonoras Falcon. The clusters of holm oaks on the surrounding hills provide shelter for Cili Buntings and, further up the mountain, you may see Black Vultures, Griffon Vultures and even a Bonelli's Eagle.
