Situated in the heart of the Rhone valley, within easy reach of Avignon, St.Remy and Aix-en-Provence, this glorious estate, fully enclosed landscape, embraces 17 acres of mature wooded parkland, elegant formal gardens, orchards and streams.
At its heart lies the chateau, set as a final flourish at the end of a long avenue of ancient Plane trees. Beautifully restored by the present owners to reflect its 18th century character, the Chateau has a sophisticated refinement, which is enhanced with its eclectic collection of antiques. The 21st century technology is also discreetly present.
Throughout the Chateau, there are many different rooms to enjoy. With its high ceiling, deep chairs and well-stocked shelves, the library is a reader’s paradise. Then there is the Peacock salon in which the home cinema fast forwards the 18th century into the 21st with its plasma screen and spread of CDs and DVDs. Many guests end the evening in the Salon Ovale. Here the walls are panelled in 18th century oak, making it an intimate setting for a quite chat over a late night Cognac.
Guest at the adjoining Farm can lounge in the lovely cloistered courtyard on the rattan sofas and chairs. Lemon trees and Asian antiquities add to the air of informality.
Dining at Chateau de Ventoux is more than just eating well. The menu can be a partnership – created by you and the chef, or you can just leave it all to him. Above all there is choice – to eat outdoors in the courtyard by the pool, in the full magnificence of the dining room or simply an informal supper in the kitchen.
A game of squash in the morning? A challenging set of tennis? At Chateau de Ventoux you play what you like when you like – the tennis and basketball courts are floodlit. The less sportif can walk the extensive grounds or enjoy a game of croquet.
