Chateau bourgueil is situated in the heart of the loire valley’s chateau country. The fairytale chateau sits on an island surrounded by a moat and an ensemble of gardens within the established 19th century park.
A grade 1 listed Historic Monument, the chateau was built over several different periods starting from 1313, but is most famous for its Renaissance entrance with towers chequered with a pattern of brick and stone. Due to its historic status, the grounds are open to the public, but not the chateau itself.
It has been beautifully restored and decorated in a charming, warm and welcoming style. Each of the 17 ensuite bedrooms is decorated differently, many with delightful antique furniture.
It is very well positioned to enjoy so much: Chateau visits to Villandry, Chenonceau, Saumur, Azay Le Rideau. Winetasting in the famous vineyards of Bourgueil, Samur and Chinon. Gastronomy, the Loire is famous for its fish, charcuterie, fresh vegetables and goats cheese. Sport, tennis within the grounds, swimming pool 3 miles, canoeing, horse riding, hot air ballons. Historical visits to the abbey of Fontevraud, medieval towns, prehistoric menhirs and dolments and many more.
