The Lodge at Molokai Ranch
The Lodge at Molokai Ranch is an exceptionally unique property and is considered one of the two (Hotel Hana Maui is the other) sole remaining true Hawaiian experiences. This property is not a forced glorious tropical environment found at the large resorts throughout Hawaii but instead a Hawaiian experience of what the islands were like before tourism brought the masses to this paradise. The Lodge is set at the west end of Molokai, on the far edge of the 64,000-acre Molokai Ranch, with a view of Honolulu and Diamond Head in the far distance. The Lodge is a luxurious cosy atmosphere with a Western, Polynesian-style décor. The Great Room/ Lobby is dramatic with a 1930's feel with huge leather sofas, a massive lava-rock fireplace, rattan and bamboo lounges and original art by the bygone Hawaiian era. Guest can lounge by the fire in the evening while enjoying the music from the grand piano that anchors the room.
Views from the two story great room are breathtaking and you look out over the downward sloping terrain to the ocean. Throughout the week, historians, adventure experts, and cowboys offer hour lectures on the history of Molokai. A concierge style check-in will be offered at the transition. The 22 guest rooms are Individually decorated with whimsical styling including hand-crafted furniture that ranges from Art Deco to Mission oak. Armoires hide TV's, phones, high speed Internet service, on demand movies, DVD players, wet bars, mini bars, coffee service, twice daily maid service, turndown, valet and shoe shine service, and lanais with distant water views are common throughout. Baths come with claw foot tubs and separate showers. At the transition, new Egyptian cotton soft goods are going into the rooms including new down pillows, duvet, bed linens, robes and towels.
The dining room is a relaxed yet formal atmosphere with a beautiful wrap around porch and hardwood floors that are found throughout the bottom floor of the lodge. Evening meals are formal with an abundant of fresh seafood and the hotel will offer a Wine Spectator award winning wine list at the transition. The current list is limited and merely adequate. A small but beautiful infinity edge pool is located just off the lodge that is secluded and private with gorgeous views of the ocean in the distance. Food and beverage service is offered pool side and the pool is heated year round due to the trade winds that sweep Molokai. The spa at Molokai offers three treatment rooms with massage, facial and body treatments with separate dressing facilities and saunas. A Tai Chi, Yoga and Hula pavilion is being constructed during the transition. The main reason that guest go to Molokai is for the true old Hawaiian atmosphere and to experience the best in eco-adventure.
