About Cookies
- What is a Cookie?
A cookie is a tiny piece of text asking permission to be placed on your computer's hard drive. If you agree, then your browser adds the text in a small file. Acting like your identification card, your unique cookie cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses, and it can only be read by the server that presented it to you.
If you have set your browser to notify you before accepting a cookie, you will notice that CircumVista.com requests a cookie to be set on your computer. Its purpose is to let us know when you visit our site and 'remember' information you do not want to type more than once such as your password, or your name.
- Why a Cookie?
We use cookies to ensure you obtain the information you request. Those cookies will not follow you throughout your travels on the Web, nor can they capture private data on your computer. Rather, these cookies establish a user session and to allow our server to correctly provide site users with the appropriate content. For example, if you book a room on our Website specifying that it has to be non-smoking, we will write a cookie with that information, so in the future each room you book through us already contains this type of information on your profile. Of course at any time you can change such information or can refuse to let us save it as cookies.
To illustrate further another use of cookies on our site, here is another example. When you become a member of CircumVista.com you will have access to a personalized page called 'My Favorites'. To make that page unique and secure you need to login using your e-mail as a username (easier to remember) and a password you previously selected. This information was saved at registration time on our secure database on our server. At login time you have the option of checking a box called 'Remember it for me'. If you do your e-mail and password will be written to a cookie on your computer. Next time you want to access your page or save a property to your list of favorites accommodations, you will not have to enter again your e-mail and password. Instead it will be read from the cookies we saved on your computer and the login processed will be done automatically. Once again, you can refuse cookies and have them deleted if you change your mind. We give you that option through various submission forms on our Website. In that case you will have to enter your e-mail and password manually each time you login.
- Why Do I Need to Know This?
Because we want you to know why we ask you to accept a cookie. We want to be sure you understand that accepting a cookie in no way gives us access to your computer. We know that a lot of people have concerns about cookies, but in talking with many of our users, we feel that the benefit we both gain from their proper use is worthwhile. We value the relationships we have with our customers and future customers, so we respect these concerns.
We are not concerned with who is using our site, but rather how our site is being used. We track the usage of our site in order to modify it according to our customers' needs. We pay attention to what information is requested and attempt to make it easier to find in the future.
Data Capture via Form Submissions
Please understand that any data captured from this system is for internal use only and is not shared with anyone else. Within the reservation and the 'My Favorites' portion of the site, we provide a profile feature that remembers, some previous information you entered. The information you enter at the time you register to be a member is stored on our database, not via cookies. Our main goal is to make our reservation service easy to use, so you do not have to reenter your information on each future booking or requests. We respect your privacy and maintain your profile information on a secure server. It can be accessed, maintained and used by you, and only you through the use of password that you can modify at any time. CircumVista.com does not authorize any other use of your confidential information.
